National market :

By december 31 2004, there were 44.5 million mobile customers in France of witch 27.4 million subscribed to a flate-rate offer (postpaid customers). The number of mobile customers increased by 2.9 million over one year, between december 31 2003 and december 31 2004 (for net annual growth of 6.9 %). The total number of customers increased by 1 681 600 between september 30 2004 and december 31 2004 (for a net growth of 3.9 % over the previous quarter).

Orange France, SFR et Bouygues Télécom's market share was 47.7 %, 35.5 % and 16.8 % respectively. The penetration rate reached 73.9 % by december 31 2004. Total active customers represented 98.4 of total customers and the active penetration rate was 72.6 % by december 31 2004.

NB: The data cover the activity of new actors who are commercializing their services under their own brand without running a network (Debitel, in partnership with SFR and Breizh Telecom, in partnership with Orange since July 2004).

Metropolitan France :

The total penetration rate by december 31 2004 was 73.7 %. At the same date, total active customers in France represented 98.5 % of all customers. The "active" penetration rate in Metropolitan France was 72.6 % (compared with 70.0 % by september 30 2004).
Net growth of active customers was 3.7 % between september 30 2004 and december 31 2004 and represents 1 513 514 new active customers.

Total recurring sales for the three operators in Metropolitan France for the third quarter 2004 is €4.366 billion, giving average recurring revenue per active customer of €35.8 per month. Recurring sales from flat-rate package customers is €3.594 billion, representing average recurring revenue per flat-rate package customer of €47.3 Recurring voice traffic for the third quarter 2004 is 20 881 billion minutes, of which 18 644 billion minutes for flat-rate customers.

There were 10.3 million active mobile multimedia users by december 31 2004 representing 24.3% of active customers. There were 59 900 mobile numbers ported during the fourth quarter.

Overseas departements, Mayotte and Saint Pierre et Miquelon :

There were 1.4 million wireless customers in the overseas departements, Mayotte and Saint Pierre et Miquelon, with net quarterly growth of 5.2 %, representing 69 600 new customers. The share of customers subscribing to a flat-rate offer was 50 % by december 31 2004.

The penetration rate for the overseas departements (DOM), Mayotte and Saint Pierre et Miquelon was 78.2% by december 31 2004. Total active customers represented 95.2 % of total customers. Counting only active customers, the "active" penetration rate in the overseas departements, Mayotte and Saint Pierre et Miquelon was 74.5 %.

Total outgoing traffic for the fourth quarter 2004 (not including St-Pierre et Miquelon) was 64 million, representing an average of 16.3 SMS sent per active customer for the period.
