National market :

At March 31 2005, there were 44.9 million mobile customers in France of witch 27.9 million subscribed to a flate-rate offer (postpaid customers). The number of mobile customers increased by 3 million over one year, between 31 March 2004 and 31 March 2005 (for net annual growth of 7.1 %). The total number of customers increased by 377 900 between 31 December 2004 and 31 March 2005 (for a net growth of 0.8 % over the previous quarter).

The penetration rate reached 74.5 % at 31 March 2005. Total active customers represented 98.4 of total customers and the active penetration rate was 73.3 % at 31 March 2005.

Total outgoing traffic for the first quarter 2005 was 3.232 billion, representing an average of 24.5 SMS sent per active customers for the period.

Metropolitan France :

The total penetration rate at 31 March 2005 was 74.3 %. At the same date, total active customers in France represented 98.5 % of all customers. The "active" penetration rate in Metropolitan France was 73.2 %.
Net growth of active customers was 0.8 % between 31 December 2004 and 31 March 2005 and represents 336 100 new active customers.
Total outgoing traffic for the second quarter 2004 was 3.157 billion, representing an average of 24.7 SMS sent per active customers for the period.
Total recurring sales for the three operators in Metropolitan France for the fourth quarter 2004 is €4.389 billion, giving average recurring revenue per active customer of €35.1 per month. Recurring sales from flat-rate package customers is €3.691 billion, representing average recurring revenue per flat-rate package customer of €47. Recurring voice traffic for the fourth quarter 2004 is 20.030 billion minutes, of which 19.955 billion minutes for flat-rate customers.

There were 10.4 million active mobile multimedia users at 31 March 2005 representing 24.2 % of active customers. There were 71 700 mobile numbers ported during the first quarter.
NB: The data cover the activity of new actors who are commercializing their services under their own brand without running a network (Debitel, in partnership with SFR and Breizh Telecom, in partnership with Orange since July 2004).

Overseas departements, Mayotte and Saint Pierre et Miquelon :

Pierre et Miquelon, with net quarterly growth of 2.4 %, representing 33 400 new customers. The share of customers subscribing to a flat-rate offer was 49.9 % at 31 March 2005.

The penetration rate for the overseas departements (DOM), Mayotte and Saint Pierre et Miquelon was 80.1 % at 31March 2005. At 31 March 2005, total active customers represented 95.3 % of total customers. Counting only active customers, the "active" penetration rate in the overseas departements, Mayotte and Saint Pierre et Miquelon was 76.3 %.
Total outgoing traffic for the first quarter 2005 (not including St-Pierre et Miquelon) was 74.6 million, representing an average of 18.4 SMS sent per active customer for the period.
